Trichomonas vaginalis - aspectos clínicos e diagnóstico laboratorial

A Trichomonas vaginalis é um parasita patogénico que habita no tracto genito-urinário de homens e mulheres, tendo como prmcipal via de transmissão o contacto sexual. Este microrganismo é responsável pela Tricomoniose, uma doença sexualmente transmissível não viral muito comum em todo o mundo. Apresenta diversas manifestações clínicas que variam desde a apresentação assintomática até um estado de severa inflamação. Sabe-se que promove atransmissão do víms de Vü*us de Imudeficiência Humana (VTH), predispõe mulheres grávidas à susceptibilidade de sofrerem gravidez ectópica, doença mflamatória pélvica, mptura prematura da membrana e parto prematuro, além do recém-nascido apresentar baixo peso à nascença. Com esta revisão pretende-se destacar métodos de diagnóstico mais precisos e rápidos, a epidemiologia da tricomoniose, consequências e tratamento. Futuramente recorrendo a um diagnóstico laboratorial correcto, ao tratamento de casos sintomáticos e assintomáticos, bem como à educação pública e a programas de prevenção ocorrerá uma diminuição desta infecção.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Role of Networking in Innovation Promotion and Cluster Modernization: “House of the Future” Case

This paper stresses the potential of innovative business cooperation networks in promoting regional competitiveness. It is based on the case study of a cooperation network, named “House of the Future”, carried out in the framework of a project where the University of Aveiro has an important role. It suggests success factors in the development of co-operation networks between firms from various sectors and a university. The aim of the “House of the Future” initiative is to promote an innovative approach to inter-organizational cooperation joining together firms from a number of different industrial activities related with the habitat meta-sector. This collaborative effort can function as an experiment for the design of regional innovation policies.

Market anomaly : 2014th World Cup effect

Inspired by the World Cup effect discovered by Kaplanski and Levy (2010), we decided to in-vestigate the 2014th edition. Our findings were conclusive. The average return on the U.S. stock market during the latest World Cup was +0.87%, compared to an average of -2.42% of all past World Cups; hence, the anomaly disappeared. We suggest its disappearance was driven by: (1) the growth popularity of Football in the U.S. and its influence on the local stock market, and by (2) the publication of Kaplanski and Levy (2010 and 2014) followed by an investment strategy, which allowed sophisticated investors to take advantage of the anomaly

Pertinência educacional da educação ambiental: perceção dos docentes do 3º ciclo do ensino básico do distrito de Bragança

A importância das questões ligadas ao ambiente enquanto matéria de estudo associada à formação dos jovens é atualmente unânime. Porém, ao nível da docência, os professores deparam-se com uma grande diversidade e quantidade de conteúdos, sem que haja uma orientação muito precisa de como proceder à sua incorporação na prática letiva. Este trabalho enquadra-se num estudo mais amplo realizado no âmbito do mestrado em Educação Ambiental e cujo objetivo é conhecer a perceção dos professores do 3.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico sobre Educação Ambiental. A técnica de recolha de dados utilizada foi o inquérito por questionário. A análise fatorial permitiu obter sete fatores aglutinadores dos temas abrangidos pelo instrumento. Neste caso destacamos os dados relativos à pertinência educacional da Educação Ambiental. A partir dos resultados em função das variáveis género, situação profissional, forma de profissionalização, tempo de serviço, verifica-se que as opiniões mais favoráveis provêm, respetivamente: das professoras; dos professores do quadro; dos professores que tiveram estágio integrado e dos professores com tempo de serviço entre 21 e 25 anos. A sim, o estudo mostra que há, notoriamente, concordância face ao fator pertinência educacional. s Conclui-se que a Educação Ambiental é vista como uma dimensão de educação abrangente que abre caminhos para a reflexão de problemas ambientais e para o desenvolvimento de valores que conduzem à alteração de comportamentos

Changes in the math syllabus of the Portuguese basic education: the case of the topic Organisation and Data Processing

Neste estudo analisam-se as alterações ocorridas no recentemente aprovado Programa de Matemática para o Ensino Básico português (2013), com foco no tema Organização e Tratamento de Dados, relativamente ao programa anterior (2007), tendo por referência as recomendações atuais para o ensino da estatística. Para tal, procedeu-se a uma análise de conteúdo dos dois programas escolares, primeiro em um nível estrutural e, seguidamente, focada no tema Organização e Tratamento de Dados. Em termos de resultados obtidos, diferentemente do programa anterior, no programa de 2013 omitem-se indicações metodológicas e recursos, que se traduzem na não referência aos projetos investigativos, ao trabalho de grupo e às calculadoras e computadores, revelando um retrocesso relativamente às recomendações atuais para a abordagem desta temática.In this studythe changes in the recently approved Math Syllabus for the Portuguese Basic Education (2013) are analysed, focusing on the topic Organisation and Data Processing, related to the previously syllabus(2007), with reference to the current recommendations for the teaching of statistics. So that, it was performed the content analysis of the two syllabuses, firstly at a structural level and, then, focused on the topic Organisation and Data Processing. The Brazilian experience in design for health: Interdisciplinary and Bioethics

Health design in Brazil has been characterized historically by replacing imported products with others that are locally manufactured on a small scale. The formation of interdisciplinary groups has never been submitted to specific norms, particularly at universities. In January 2007 the Health Design Group was created at the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development, a partnership between people from the design group at the authors’ Institutions: Architecture and Urbanism School and School of Medicine. Aiming at documenting some important experiences on the Brazilian scene to provide historical and methodological subsidies for research done by this group, a survey was conducted to find the pioneer experiences that, using the technology available at the time they were developed, paved the way for the current research. We selected some experiments that began at the end of the 1950s lasting until the 90s, along with their researchers; among them are the Brazilian Foundation for the Development of Science Teaching (FUNBEC), the department of bioengineering of the Heart Institute (InCor) of the University of Sao Paulo (USP) Medical School, the medical equipment at Rede Sarah, and some experiences in the field of Ophthalmology. Besides the historical documentation, the results of the Health Design Group specifically include the development of two products, a high-optical-quality magnifying glass and the innovative reading stand associated with a magnifying glass that has already been successfully tested in accordance with ethical standards by low vision patients at authors’ Institution. Thus, the creation of the Health Design Group fosters cross-disciplinary integration of subjects such as medicine and design. Based on the previously cited experiences and looking forward to implementing new research methods at authors’ Institutions, this group is getting the first results, such as the inclusion of interdisciplinary work and the implementation of bioethics in research on the design of medical equipment. Multivariate analysis for the classification and differentiation of Madeira wines according to main grape varieties

In order to differentiate and characterize Madeira wines according to main grape varieties, the volatile composition (higher alcohols, fatty acids, ethyl esters and carbonyl compounds) was determined for 36 monovarietal Madeira wine samples elaborated from Boal, Malvazia, Sercial and Verdelho white grape varieties. The study was carried out by headspace solid-phase microextraction technique (HS-SPME), in dynamic mode, coupled with gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). Corrected peak area data for 42 analytes from the above mentioned chemical groups was used for statistical purposes. Principal component analysis (PCA) was applied in order to determine the main sources of variability present in the data sets and to establish the relation between samples (objects) and volatile compounds (variables). The data obtained by GC–MS shows that the most important contributions to the differentiation of Boal wines are benzyl alcohol and (E)-hex-3-en-1-ol. Ethyl octadecanoate, (Z)-hex-3-en-1-ol and benzoic acid are the major contributions in Malvazia wines and 2-methylpropan-1-ol is associated to Sercial wines. Verdelho wines are most correlated with 5-(ethoxymethyl)-furfural, nonanone and cis-9-ethyldecenoate. A 96.4% of prediction ability was obtained by the application of stepwise linear discriminant analysis (SLDA) using the 19 variables that maximise the variance of the initial data set

Formação pós-graduada em tecnologias de informação e comunicação na educação infantil e básica inicial: o caso dos estudos da criança na Universidade do Minho

A partir da análise da literatura e com base na evidência recolhida num projecto de investigação em contexto de formação de professores de Educação Infantil e Básica Inicial, justifica-se a necessidade de formação pós-graduada em Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação (TIC). Aprofunda-se a temática ilustrando algumas das questões emergentes, através da experiência colhida em diversas oportunidades de formação no Instituto de Estudos da Criança da Universidade do Minho.
